Vacancy: First Team Physiotherapist - Full Time

We have a vacancy for a Head Physiotherapist. The role will involve providing evidence-based physiotherapy for all professional and registered academy footballers within the club. The role requires travel with professional squads for training and competition.

 

This is a full-time role with working hours as dictated by the football calendar.

 

Applicants must be a qualified physiotherapist and registered with the HCPC.

 

Previous experience working in professional sport is desirable.

 

The salary for this role is dependent on qualifications and/or experience.

 

Permanent or fixed-term contract is negotiable.

Overall Purpose of Job:

To provide the highest standard of care to all registered players and contribute to the overall success of the Medical department.

Main Responsibilities/Description of Duties:

• To provide evidence-based care to full-time athletes throughout all stages of the injury process.

• Lead injury prevention strategies and pro-actively seek out new ideas.

• Maintain comprehensive medical records.

• Devise treatment plans for injured players with an emphasis on decreasing injury recurrence.

• To assist in profiling physical aspects of professional players.

• Travel with squads when required for both training and competitive fixtures.

• Maintain excellent communication between department and football management.

• Applicant must be highly motivated, displaying a strong team ethic, as well as a proven ability to work alone.

 

Person Specification: Experience / Qualifications /Training / Personal Qualities:

 

ESSENTIAL:

QUALIFICATIONS

• BSc or MSc (Pre-registration) Physiotherapy.

• HCPC registered.

 

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

• Experience of working in an elite Football environment.

• Proven track record of returning athletes safely to competition.

• Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment, incorporating all aspects of football medicine and science.  

• Evidence of advanced clinical reasoning skills.

 

DESIRABLE:

QUALIFICATIONS

• Working towards or have MSc in a Sports Physiotherapy or related degree.

 

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

• Worked with elite athletes from a range of sports.  

• Knowledge and understanding of UK Anti-Doping regulations.

• Experience of travelling with professional squads.

 

 

TRAINING

  • Excellent IT and presentation skills
  • Current advanced pitch side  trauma certificate (Sport PROMOTE or equivalent).

• Professional and diligent with their work.
