Match Preview v Falkirk (H) - 18th March 23

Mar 17 2023 11:00

It’s promotion chasing Falkirk up next for us in league one.

The Bairns make the trip to Palmerston on a high after coming from behind to reach the last four of the Scottish Cup with a win over Ayr on Monday. Also going well in the league, they sit second in the table, 8 points behind leaders Dunfermline with 9 games to play.

They’ve beaten us three times this season, in high scoring games. Winning 3-1 in August at the Falkirk Stadium before repeating the score-line on their last visit to Palmerston in October. And in December, John McGlynn’s side secured three points with a 5-2 victory.

Ahead of the game, Marvin Bartley said “Our last home game against Airdrie was a great all-round performance as we showed both sides of the game. For 70 minutes we played some good free flowing football and scored some very good goals. We did let Airdrie back into it and had to show grit, determination and character in the latter stages which was very pleasing. For me it’s all about performances and that was what I’m looking for, although we can always improve.

It was a different story against Clyde last week, the first half we were outfought and outworked by a part time team. That for me isn’t acceptable and will not be tolerated! We did improve after the break and could have gone on to win it, but it wasn’t the level that we can play at. We know as a squad that we can’t have off halves like that.

This week we welcome another team who are pushing for promotion. We have to get back to what we were like against Airdrie and have been in the main under my tenure.

We still have plenty of points to play for and we want to accumulate as many points and good performances as we possibly can before the end of the campaign”.

Not only is it against the law, but it is also extremely dangerous and a health hazard to other spectators. All bags will be searched and spectators presenting themselves for entry may also be subject to search. Spectators who refuse to be searched by stewards will be denied entry to the ground.
