Match Preview v Cove Rangers (H) 270424

Apr 26 2024 15:38

Tomorrow, we welcome Cove Rangers to Palmerston for our final home game of the league one campaign.

So far in our three meetings, Queens have two wins to Cove’s one. Back in August, Harvey Walker opened the scoring after two minutes and Reegan Mimnaugh added a free kick before half time in a 2-1 victory. While Rumarn Burrell scored the only goal of the game the last time we met at Palmerston in October. And goals from Jack Brydon and Kyle Doherty secured the three points for us in January.

Ahead of the game tomorrow, Manager Mavin Bartley said “A point away at Stirling Albion wasn’t what we were looking for but given the magnitude of the game and what was at stake it wasn’t the worst result. The main thing was that we didn’t concede.

It was the players fourth clean sheet out of five games, so we have tightened things up at the back we just need to make things count at the other end.

This weekend we welcome Cove Rangers for our final home game of the season. Cove are still battling to finish in the top four so still have something to play for. But for us it’s about taking care of ourselves and getting the result that we need so we can draw a line under the season.

This campaign hasn’t turned out the way we had hoped or thought it would so that has been frustrating and disappointing but I have learned a lot from it and so have the players so thank you to those who have continued to back us, your support is very much appreciated.

Let’s get the job done and move on to better times.”.

It is suggested that buses/minibuses drop off their passengers in Terregles St/King Street and thereafter park on College Mains road just off the roundabout with the A76 on the town bypass (adjacent to Curry’s/PC World, as the other side at Aldi is the access road to the ambulance depot and is extremely busy). People travelling should check Traffic Scotland website at  http://trafficscotland.org/index.aspx for confirmation of any road closures or delays.

The catering outlets within the supporter’s areas of the ground will also be open for use. And the bar under the Main stand will be open to both sets of supporters’ pre-match. The Snaq café within the Arena is also open and will have a range of food/snacks on offer ahead of kick off.

For safety reasons, QOS have adopted a robust and thorough search policy for spectators entering the ground to ensure that ground rules and regulations are strictly adhered to, especially in relation to pyrotechnic devices and controlled containers. We would like to remind supporters that letting off smoke devices is a criminal offence, and anyone found doing so will be referred to Police Scotland. Not only is it against the law, it is also extremely dangerous and a health hazard to other spectators. All bags will be searched and spectators presenting themselves for entry may also be subject to search. Spectators who refuse to be searched by stewards will be denied entry to the ground.

Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue; this includes e cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. No persons will be admitted to the ground who are deemed to be under the influence of alcohol.
