Match Preview v Kelty Hearts (H) 4th Oct 24

Oct 4 2024 15:00

We have the second of back-to-back home games tomorrow as we host Kelty Hearts in the final match of the first round of fixtures.

Since joining the leagues, the Fife side have had the upper hand on us. We have faced each other on ten occasions, they’ve won six, we have won two and drawn two. Our last meeting came at Palmerston in April when they claimed a 2-1 win. Josh Todd scored after the break to cancel out Lewis Moore’s first half opener, but we weren’t level for long as Craig Johnston scored within two minutes to restore their advantage and ultimately claim the win.

Both sides have made a decent start to the campaign and go into this one on the back of victories, while we beat Dumbarton 2-0 at home, Kelty saw off Annan 3-0. With eight games played so far, we sit top of the table on 14 points, with tomorrow’s visitors two places and two points behind.

Ahead of the match tomorrow, Manager Peter Murphy said “We felt comfortable for most of the game against Dumbarton last week and apart from a ten-fifteen minute period in first half we were well in control and managed the game excellently.

This weekend marks the end of the first quarter of fixtures and going into the game top of the table is pleasing but we all know it’s still very early days. We will review the games that we have lost but we have witnessed a gradual difference over the weeks, and we have come a long way from where we started. There is always room for improvement, but we are growing in confidence and building week on week, so we are looking at small marginal improvements each time.

Kelty Hearts, are a well organised side who have also made a good start to the season. Michael and his players will provide a different challenge for us but it is up us to go out and overcome that.

The crowd was up last week so hopefully as we continue to get results on the park, more people will start to come back to help us make Palmerston the fortress that we are trying to achieve. Bring your friends and family members! Getting behind the team really does make a difference.”.
