Queens 16s entertained Edinburgh City on Sunday in the group stages of the CAS Cup. Coach Ross Newlands provided a report on how the boys got on.

“We had a young side out and we asked them to start the game quickly and they duly did. Inside the first minute William Salfenmoser was upended by the visiting goalkeeper just inside the box, Lucas Jones stepped up to take the spot kick but his effort slipped wide of the post. However, the boys weren’t put off and went on to score three inside the opening half hour. Lewis White finished off a great team move down the left before Logan McKenzie doubled the scoreline with a powerful run from midfield, calmly firing the ball into the far bottom corner. Salfenmoser scored the third, netting a rebound after a save from the Edinburgh goalie. The second half was a scrappy affair with elements of good play from the home side. Salfenmoser got a fourth and final goal of the game, scoring a fine header from a Ben Morton corner.”

The Under 16s now face a long trip north to take on Montrose in their next game.
