After the 19s played them in midweek, Queens visited Airdrie for the second time this week, when it was the turn of the 17s to face them in the CAS Cup today.

The first half was edged by the visitors who were more composed in possession, although Queens did have the better of the chances with Hodgson going close on two occasions, it was the home side who took the lead with the last kick of the half, capitalising on a series of errors in defence.

Half Time: Airdrie 1 Queens 0

The second half saw Queens improve on their first half performance and they enjoyed a lot more success in possession and created more chances. However, it was the home side who doubled their lead as they scored on the rebound following a free-kick.

Queens got back into the game from a free kick of their own that caught out the home defence and Jones squared for Carvel to calmly finish high into the net.

Queens looked to press on and net an equaliser, but the home side were awarded a penalty that they duly converted and two minutes later the hosts put the game beyond doubt with a fourth.

Queens did manage a consolation three minutes from time, with another fine finish from Carvel, the youngster reversing the ball under the keeper and into the corner of the net.
