Match Preview v Edinburgh City (H) - 13th April 24

Apr 12 2024 12:16

Edinburgh City make the trip to Dumfries tomorrow for our latest game in league one.

The visitors haven’t had their troubles to seek this season and have already been relegated but they’ve always made games tough with their never give up attitude. That desire earned them a point in our last meeting when Ruairidh Adams scored an 96th minute equaliser to cancel out Joel Mumbongo’s opener.

Prior to that, we had claimed all the points from our previous two games, Kyle Doherty and Kyle McClelland scored second half goals in a 2-1 victory at Meadowbank in August. While in December, Gavin Reilly opened the scoring in Dumfries. Robbie Leitch levelled the game but further goals from Lewis Gibson and Craig McGuffie earned us a 3-1 win.

Ahead of the game tomorrow, Manager Mavin Bartley said “We let ourselves down last week against Kelty Hearts. We stopped doing the simple things properly and ended up losing the game. It was certainly a missed opportunity and a result that hurt us all.

This time we welcome Edinburgh City a team who have had their troubles this season but a team that have plenty of enthusiasm, spirit, and energy so we can’t be complacent.

We have four games left and we need to be at our best in every one of them. I believe in the players and know what they’re capable of. But first and foremost, we need to do the basics properly and show our willingness to win”.

Car parking will be available to all spectators within the Queen of the South Arena car park. It is suggested that buses/minibuses drop off their passengers in Terregles St/King Street and thereafter park on College Mains road just off the roundabout with the A76 on the town bypass (adjacent to Curry’s/PC World, as the other side at Aldi is the access road to the ambulance depot and is extremely busy). Pick up should be the same location as drop off. Supporters’ buses including minibuses will not be allowed to park in the Arena car park.

People travelling should check Traffic Scotland website at http://trafficscotland.org/index.aspx for confirmation of any road closures or delays.

The catering outlets within the supporter’s areas of the ground will also be open for use. And the bar under the Main stand will be open to both sets of supporters’ pre-match. The Snaq café within the Arena is also open and will have a range of food/snacks on offer ahead of kick off.

For safety reasons, QOS have adopted a robust and thorough search policy for spectators entering the ground to ensure that ground rules and regulations are strictly adhered to, especially in relation to pyrotechnic devices and controlled containers. We would like to remind supporters that letting off smoke devices is a criminal offence, and anyone found doing so will be referred to Police Scotland. Not only is it against the law, as we have seen, it is also extremely dangerous and a health hazard to other spectators. All bags will be searched and spectators presenting themselves for entry may also be subject to search. Spectators who refuse to be searched by stewards will be denied entry to the ground.

Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue; this includes e cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. No persons will be admitted to the ground who are deemed to be under the influence of alcohol.

The club shop located in the Arena will be open until kick off where you can purchase our club merchandise. Including half-time draw tickets and match day programmes.

Tomorrow’s match kicks off at 3 pm.
